Yes, I am leaving today (June 10)! I am leaving South Bend, where I have lived for nearly a year; I am leaving Notre Dame and its fairy-tale campus and academic excellence, and I am leaving Michiana - the unique community I have come to call home, the corner of the Midwest that lies at the Michgan-Indiana border and is arguably part of greater Chicago, Illinois. Leaving all behind for a one-semester internship in Arlington, Virginia, just across from Washington, DC - the political capital of the United States of America. Being and interning in the DC area should in itself be a rewarding experience, but at a time of US elections in November, this should be extra-interesting. DC area is also said to be home to the most educated Khmer community in the States and I hope to make the best of my interaction with them. Keeping my expectations as low as possible, I will try to update this blog more often (both English and Khmer) to share with the readers this unique experience there. Also, if any of the reader happens to live there and wants to meet up, just drop me a line. Here I come DC!
